Estimate the maturity amount of regular monthly deposits using a stated interest rate and compounding assumption. Compare the amount saved with the interest projected.
How to use the Recurring Deposit calculator
Estimate accumulation from equal monthly deposits. Use the deposit term and interest terms quoted by your bank or provider, then compare the projection with its maturity quote.
- Monthly deposit
- Enter the same amount assumed to be deposited every month.
- Rate and term
- Enter the annual nominal percentage and a whole number of months, from 1 to 600.
- Compounding
- Choose the frequency applicable to the product; quarterly is the default assumption.
Select Calculate, review the result and its breakdown, then change one input at a time to compare scenarios.
Formula and calculation method
The model converts the selected annual compounding convention into an equivalent monthly growth rate. Each deposit is added at the start of the month, then grows. R is annual rate as a decimal, c is compounding periods per year and n is monthly deposits.
See the numbers in context
₹5,000 monthly for 60 months at an illustrative 7% annual rate with quarterly compounding gives about ₹3,59,664. Deposits total ₹3,00,000 and estimated interest is ₹59,664. This is not a provider’s rate or payout promise.
Illustrative inputs · rounded to the nearest rupeeWhat your result means
The maturity amount includes all deposits. Interest is the modeled addition. Annual rows show total contributions and interest to date; a fractional final year represents remaining months.
Scenarios worth comparing
- Compare different monthly savings amounts using the same term and rate.
- Check alternative terms with their actual quoted rates; a longer term may not offer the same rate.
Assumptions and limitations
- The model assumes every deposit arrives at the beginning of the month on schedule.
- Quarterly compounding is represented by an equivalent monthly mathematical rate; bank day-count and broken-period rules may differ.
- Missed instalments, penalties, premature closure, TDS and final income tax are excluded.
- This generic tool does not enforce a specific bank or Post Office product’s tenure or eligibility rules.
Frequently asked questions
Is the default 7% a current bank offer?
No. It is an illustrative input. Enter the rate applicable to the deposit you are considering.
Why does the bank quote differ?
Deposit dates, interest-credit rules, day-count conventions and rounding can differ from this approximation.
What happens at zero interest?
Maturity is simply monthly deposit multiplied by the number of deposits.
