Project a new Sukanya Samriddhi account over its 21-year horizon, with annual deposits for the first 15 years. The constant-rate illustration separates deposits from estimated interest.
How to use the Sukanya Samriddhi calculator
Illustrate a newly opened SSY account with 15 years of annual deposits and a 21-year accumulation horizon. This is not an existing-account valuation or a confirmation of eligibility.
- Age at opening
- Enter the girl’s completed age, from 0 to 9 years. Eligibility requires separate checks.
- Annual contribution
- Enter ₹250 to ₹1,50,000 assumed to be deposited each year for 15 years.
- Assumed interest rate
- 8.2% is the default illustration. Government-notified rates may change during the account’s life.
Select Calculate, review the result and its breakdown, then change one input at a time to compare scenarios.
Formula and calculation method
The annual contribution is added at the beginning of each of the first 15 modeled years. The full balance then earns the entered annual rate. For years 16–21, no contribution is added and only growth is modeled.
See the numbers in context
₹1,50,000 annually for 15 years, assuming a constant 8.2% and early deposits, gives about ₹71,82,119 at the end of 21 account years. Deposits total ₹22,50,000 and modeled interest is ₹49,32,119.
Illustrative inputs · rounded to the nearest rupeeWhat your result means
The large result is the projected 21-year balance, not a guaranteed maturity quote. The table identifies the six growth-only years. Age after 21 account years is age at opening plus 21; maturity is measured from account opening, not the child’s 21st birthday.
Scenarios worth comparing
- Compare affordable annual deposits while retaining the same rate assumption.
- Use an alternative rate to see how a long-term change could affect the projection.
Assumptions and limitations
- The official account structure allows deposits for up to 15 years and maturity after 21 years from opening, subject to scheme rules.
- The calculation assumes full-year interest on early annual deposits; actual qualifying balances and dates can differ.
- No changing rates, partial withdrawals, early closure or tax calculations are modeled.
- Account eligibility, required deposit denominations and financial-year deposit limits must be checked with the provider.
Frequently asked questions
Does the account mature when the child turns 21?
Ordinary maturity is 21 years from account opening. A child already aged five at opening would be about 26 then.
Why do deposits stop after year 15?
The scheme’s deposit phase is up to 15 years from opening; this illustration then models six growth-only years.
Is 8.2% fixed for all 21 years?
No. The entered rate is held constant only for this projection; notified rates can change.
